Take Rhode Island Back

The League of Rhode Island Businesses (LORIB)

We are a non-partisan, non-profit, pro-business organization made up of dedicated Rhode Islanders from all walks of life. Our members volunteer their time and expertise to support and elect legislators who uphold the Constitution, protect individual rights, freedoms, advance practical lasting reforms and clean up the overwhelming laws and regulations so all Rhode Islanders benefit.

What we do

LORIB identifies and supports candidates and incumbents across all 39 cities and towns who share our common-sense principles. We provide financial resources, data-driven insights, and technical support throughout both the primary and general election cycles to help strengthen Rhode Island’s economic future.

The League closely monitors Senators’ and House Representatives’ voting records, job performance, and adherence to the Constitution they swore an oath to uphold, holding them accountable to the people they serve.

Why This Matters

Rhode Island’s families and businesses shoulder a heavy overall tax burden and face punitive overly complex regulations that drive opportunity and investment out of the state. These barriers make it harder for families to stay, for small businesses to grow, and for new employers to establish roots here. Each legislative session, new proposals from out-of-touch progressives threaten to further undermine competitiveness, innovation, and job creation. LORIB exists to reverse these trends by supporting leaders who champion responsible governance, fiscal balance, and economic freedom—so Rhode Island remains a place where families and businesses can thrive.

Some of our Current Policy Priorities

Balanced Budget
Require a truly balanced state budget built on sustainable tax revenues and disciplined spending.

Estate (“Death”) Tax Reform
Eliminate the estate tax to reduce incentives for residents and capital to relocate, and keep wealth and investment in  Rhode Island.

Retirement Tax Relief
Eliminate taxes on Social Security benefits and on state and municipal pensions to protect retirees living on fixed incomes.

Transportation Competitiveness
Eliminate truck tolls, or at minimum align Rhode Island’s policy with neighboring states, to prevent disadvantaging Rhode Island employers and businesses.

Public Safety Policy
Enforce strong penalties for criminals who use firearms while maintaining reasonable gun-ownership rules that emphasize safety, education, and training, including a robust Blue Card test.

Wealth Tax Opposition
Oppose any wealth tax that would drive investment and jobs out of Rhode Island, and ensure the state remains competitive for growth industries and small businesses.

Reverse the “Taylor Swift Tax”
Repeal the new surcharge that penalizes Rhode Islanders who own a second home in the state.

Reduce Regulations
For years, legislators have passed nearly 900 bills annually. It’s time to review existing laws, eliminate unnecessary regulations, and streamline government.

Government Consolidation
Rhode Island is a small state. Consolidating overlapping agencies, departments, and services can improve efficiency and reduce costs for taxpayers.

How We Support Candidates

LORIB offers data-driven district analysis, compliance guidance, message development, digital tools, financial support and grassroots support. Endorsements consider principal alignment, campaign viability, financial stewardship, and commitment to doing the work required to win—and to serve with integrity. We do this through a financial engine of 40 PAC’s which has the ability financially to contribute Up to $1,000,000 annually toward candidates.

Rhode Island has unparalleled beauty, history, and competitive spirit. We aim to be the catalyst that makes our state one of the most attractive places in the nation to live, work, start a business, and retire with dignity. We look forward to your financial support.
